Stoney River

Stony River was a part of Gwinett County Restaurant week.
Here you get a 3 course meal for $21.21...I know right! What a deal! Instead of doing our weekly Neighborfriend Pot Luck, we decided to enjoy Stoney River for Gwinett Restaurant Week.

(Dave & Ashley)
(Jolie, Angela, Ashley)
We get there and the parking lot is packed! Thank goodness for complimentary valet parking! We get inside and the decor is nice...very upscale steakhouse feel to it. We head for the bar.

Angela and Ashley opt for the white and red wine respectively, Dave goes for the beer, Jolie gets a cosmo and I opt for the Bellini tini (Hey! I like martinis and I like Bellinis).

Riesling

Cosmo

Bellini-Tini
(Not too bad, I think it needed a better champagne or Prosecco)
Our table is ready quickly and we are greeted by our waiter who brings over these hot, poppy seed, doughnut hole shaped bread bites that were INCREDIBLE!!!

Our 1st course arrives and it is a roasted chicken spanakopita with smoked-tomato chardonnay sauce.
(This is a mixture of spinach, chicken, and cheese wrapped in phyllo dough)

It was wonderful! I think the best part of enjoying the dish is when some on at the table says "This is great! I would have never thought to order this!"
For our entrees, Ashley orders the Salmon and everyone else orders the 7oz Fillet (I had Mashed Sweet potatoes instead of the garlic mashed).

My Photojournalistic moment:

Desert comes, and I must admit, we all thought that it was molten lava cake, we were wrong...but not disappointed. This chocolate fudge cake comes out and, well....YUM!

I must admit, it was like a big cookie or a chocolate chip blondie with the fudge and ice cream topping it. Quite good but very rich.

Summary: Stoney River was pretty darn good. The food was good and I would place it above quite a few restaurants in Atlanta. I would visit this place again.

Blue Pointe.

If I said it once, I've said it a thousand times..."Take advantage of Restaurant specials!" We got the annual Buckhead Life Restaurant cards for signing up on the website. You get a card for the Months of Jun-Sept for one of their restaurants and you get $30 off. For June we got Bluepointe.

We started off with sushi appitizers. The fried sushi was the bomb!

I normally don't write about potatoes, but either I was really hungry or these were some good potatoes!

Angela opted for the Asian Short ribs. The little bit that she allowed me to have was off the chain! The Asian flavors were very pronounced and there was a wonderful hoisen type flavor going on with them.

Another shot of the goodness.
I had the butterfish on top of a coconut rice cake. Not that bad. The fish was a bit "oily", but the flavor was nice. I guess I need to explain the "oily" part. It was not greasy at all, but it just seemed like a fish like that should be cooked in such a way to allow the fish to release some of its natural oils to remain balanced. As a comparison on how to do it right, I recomend taking a visit to Roy's Hawaiian Fusion restaurant.

The meal was not bad by any means. I highly reccomend a trip to the bar or at least a try of their innovative martini menu...WOW!
